Trying to understand what happened, the crew found out that both Cora and Pandora were erased yet could not find any evidence of wrongdoing or its source. It was as if someone one the ship had been involved.
The entire crew was court martialed, yet as there were no direct evidence of their direct involvement, they were mostly acquitted.
Captain Miller, however, was charged with negligence in contribution to genocide, stripped of his rank and sent for a 5-year sentence to an Alliance penal colony in Klingon space. He never fully recovered from it.

Now, dying in seclusion, he reaches out to his long time friends to try to find out what has really happened.
