Investigation officer personal log
I study the dead, understand them, and investigate them. Each body has a unique story to tell
Take the crew we found as an example:
Torn limbs and spilled innards indicate the work of a powerful predator or something of equivalent strength,
Grey goo in the intestines shows the involvement of Nano-decomposition,
Lack of plasma burns or sharp puncture wounds show the injuries were taken in ground warfare rather than space bombardment.
The facts are clear yet the story they tell is a complex, illogical story. If someone presented me this case back on teller I would have laughed and argued that the prime suspect was probably an assimilated wolf-hound.
I wish I could laugh now.
I study the dead and this time they decided they should study me.
Their tale was not of clues from the past but cries of anguish and hunger, their bodies no longer their own but a host for a “Cure”, like legends have it they gained invincible body and payed in their sanity, mind and soul.
We also paid a price of sanity, the MACO were silent on the way home, the usual banter and insults gone replaced by silence, even the intelligence department seemed more shadowy than usual.
The language specialist seemed unaffected but truth yet no one know what goes inside her head.
I’ve set an appointment with Counselor Sh'shivass, arguments are good for the soul.
At least none shall have to endure this again
Let the blue star end in a blue sun, a fitting end for this cursed vessel.
