Mission: Episode One: At the gate to the Deep
Location: Gamma Quadrant
Timeline: Stardate 97618

We're a little more than a day into our mission and I already feel disconnected from home, the Federation and anything they represent.
The circumstances of our departure being what they are didn't promote any extraordinary longing for our past life.
But Starfleet is still with us, after all that.
It is more than a uniform and a para-military structure. It is an Ideal, a way of life, a path for betterment.
I never had any illusions on anything being perfect in this universe, not even the Q, but imperfections make things real.
This is why, though we are practically banished, we will keep to the code of the fleet, as much as we can.

As a first order of business, I've requested that our CMO will conduct a a full medical survey of the crew. Starting with the senior staff.
If we have any problems at the start of this long voyage, we better find out as close to a friendly port as possible.

After that, the great unknown.
