Captain's log, supplemental

Mission: Episode Six: A dance of ice and fire
Location: HJR-4462 system edge
Timeline: Stardate 97680.34

The Cychreides is safe on the edge of what seems to be a remarkably dense solar system.
It seems to be like the Oort cloud within the Sol system contracted around the inner core of system HJR-4462, to the point that any passage into its interior will require hazarding a ball of dancing asteroids and planetoids.
We have little visibility into the actual structure of the system, however the structure of the systems has already successfully answered the long time mystery regarding the odd fluctuations of its stellar emissions.
Eager as we may be to see inside the lair of the beast, the newly promoted Lieutenant Commander Essex suggested to use a cluster of three probes to create something close to a crude map of the system.
This way we know what would we endanger ourselves, should a mission into its depth shall be decided upon.
The probes, lacking the necessary maneuverability to avoid the fast an erratically moving bodies, should be sufficient for their task and would create redundancy, buying themselves the time to perform their mission.

Any foray with the Cychreides is entirely out of the question, as I will not risk the whole ship or its crew for this mission.
But I am confident that we will find an alternative sufficient to execute it and expand our knowledge of this galaxy.
