Mission: Episode Two: The Changing of Seasons
Location: Starbase 621
Timeline: Stardate 93698.1

It's been a long week.
The mission wasn't, as I've summarized, a routine patrol. But the cascade of events that followed our arrival to Starbase 621 wasn't something I could've anticipated either.

We are back in 621 and making arrangement to continue our tour of duty, but the crew needs some rest and calming down, so I'm taking things slowly on purpose.

I need some time to order my thoughts as well and relay them in my report correctly.

The first sign of things to come was a sudden arrival of orders changing our designation from Starfleet vessel to Alliance vessel, under Admiral V'Lyrek. Our Doc T'pel had been reassigned to Vulcan and we've got a Romulan officer in her place.
Though the structure of command is still mostly Starfleet, the senior stuff is still uneasy with the divided loyalty to the various military structures that comprise the Alliance.

The mission itself started as pure reconnaissance detachment. We were to scout the buildup in Breen space and locate a missing intelligence ship, USS Chiron.
It was a perfect opportunity to test our refitted vector system and our brand new IDFS (InDirect Dampening Field System).
Initial scans did reveal a huge concentration of Breen ships around the Aspet system and we gambled that our missing query, along with the answers, will be there.
The details of the mission itself are classified and submitted in a report for the brass only, but the outcome of the mission left us with more questions and some injuries.
The Tholians had to be in the thick of things again and many lives were lost on the Chiron, though many were saved and the crew of the Cychreides performed exceptionally.

Lt. Alundi is still in sickbay on the Starbase, attended by the intrepid Doctor Selren and we've finally got the long awaited Chief Tactical and Security Officer.
I think that this was a good fire test for the crew and the ship and we all emerged from it in a fine shape, which makes me hopeful for our future.
We have a lot of work ahead of us and I feel that the Tholian enigma will continue to follow us like a bucket tied to a cat's tail, but for now we need to heal and strengthen our bonds, to be ready for our next challenges.
