Mission:
Episode Five: Ahimsa
Location: Deep Space
Timeline: Stardate 93999.14
Our first mission doing our duty, as we were intended out here, has come faster than I've anticipated.
But this is the unknown and Starfleet and the Alliance were wise to send escorts to support the renewed research and exploration effort. To do what we're meant to - escort.
After receiving the distress signal from the U.S.S. Seer, I've given the order to reach their coordinates at maximum warp and be ready for any eventuality.
The Seer was defenseless and its systems disabled or failing, right on the edge of a cloud of an unknown composition.
Our initial attempt to assist was fruitless, as the anomalous cloud shot beams of compressed matter at the Cychreides, increasing in intensity upon our firing in return.
We barely managed to withdraw.
Our Chief Science officer together with the Chief engineer made every possible scan and finally launched a probe, using a sling inertia effect to avoid using its engines.
They confirmed that there is no design or sentience behind the effects of the cloud and that there is some kind of a potential energy effect in reaction to a high fields of energy of the ships it encountered.
They devised a retrieval plan using shuttles and 22nd century grapplers to tow the Seer out of the cloud's area of effect, just in time to beam the crew out before life support failure.
I'm glad to report that after 36 hours the Seer's systems has been restored sufficiently to limp back to Deep Space Three for repairs.
On another note, it seems that our efforts to integrate our new Allies into a unified structure are proving just as difficult as we've expected.
But it's for our worlds future that we must make it work an I have no intention of giving up easily.
