Lieutenant Dovok reporting,
After my introduction to the U.S.S. Cychreides after the attack on DS3, I was prepared for a quiet mission to get my department up and running. However this was not going to be the case. Shortly after starting my shift we received a distress call from a Federation ship. The Captain elected to change course to aid the vessel. I attempted to use the long range scanners to obtain critical information about the ship. The area surrounding the ship seemed to have been dampened by an unknown source. The Captain requested that I study the effects of energy draining technology. Having personal experience with the Breen energy weapons I started there. However once we made it to the area where the signal was sent no ships were present other than the U.S.S. Seer. The ship was heavily damaged near by a large unknown cloud. We were unable to conduct any scans of the interior of the cloud due to a thick layer of Ionized matter surrounding it. Working with Commander Nox I was able to suggest a method of sending in a probe. The probe was destroyed due to a high dense atmosphere within the cloud. However the readings did not show any artificial constructs within the cloud. This cloud appeared to be of natural construction and non sentient. Commander Uzeeta attempted to fire at the cloud causing a return of energy back towards us causing damage to the ship. I advised against attempting this action again. We had only a short amount of time left to rescue the crew of the Seer. Since we would be unable to get close to the cloud or lower out power enough to tractor the ship from it. I suggest to the Captain that if we were able to lower the power output of shuttles to get close enough to pull the Seer from it we could tractor the ship away. The engineering team was able to use the design of grappling hook that I advised was used on the original NX-01 ship. With the hooks attached to the shuttles we were able to use our tractor beam as a repulse beam to send them into the cloud. Thus once in the cloud they were able to attach to the Seer and free it. Cargo bay two was ready for the wounded crew members, I advised my Chief nurse to oversee operations while the medical bay was saved for severally wounded patients. Overall the mission was a success we were able to save the crew and launch a warning beacon so that other ships wouldn't be harmed.
