Episode Ten: The search for the Nebula Part I & II
Location: Deep Space
Timeline: Stardate 94053.75
I feel uneasy.
I'm well aware that it's Captain's duty to make the difficult decisions, but since no one deemed it fitting to teach advanced command courses in Engineering school, I'm learning the lessons on-job.
I've read the history of the Dominion war and always known that the Jem'Hadar are bloodthirsty warriors with a genetically driven single minded desire to kill.
But it seems that it's not the only feeling that wormed itself into their make-up. Even gods make mistakes, the Vorta would say.
I could have treated those defectors and their oddly sentimental Vorta as criminals. But their actions were of a hunted prey. Hunted for too long.
So I've decided that there is no need to lose lives on any side and the ex-Dominion would-be colonists could vanish the way they appeared.
Only a selected few on the Cychreides were aware of the Vorta's visit on board and of the true meaning of the battle drills and the boarding parties.
As to the Nebula's crew, they were all contained in sick bay and the mess hall, so no one except for ensign Voidstar knew what's really going on.
And he's on my team now.
The location we've found for the refugees should be perfectly hidden, though the barely L-class planet will not make their life on it a luxury. But it is also for the best, as it holds no significant source of interest to no-one.
The equipment we've given them - shuttles, replicators, a computer core and a wealth of spare-parts should last them a long-long time.
And we'd be able to keep an eye on them using the back-door planted by our industrious intelligence officer.
Speaking of keeping an eye... I made a promise to keep a look-out for a certain Vorta heading a mission to bring the scattered Alpha Jem'Hadar back into the Dominion fold.
And so I shall.
And we agreed to keep no record...
So...
