Science Officer's log

While manning the bridge I was presented a weak signal from a near by system. I informed the Captain, from what we could tell this was a transmission from with a indicator that it was from a 23rd century source. Currently the Cychreides was tasked to an escort mission the Captain was unable to change course to investigate the signal. However due to the nature of this I suggested that investigate this. The Captain authorized a runabout team, once away from the ship and closer to the pulsar system we were able to get move information. After arriving in the system we found the derelict ship. U.S.S. Orion, the commanding Officer Captain William Hammerstein. Our records show this ship had gone missing around 120 years ago. We were unable to learn much from our runabout, though greatly damaged the bridge was mostly intact. We were able to extend our shields to the bridge and remove some of the radiation from the deck. One arrival we found the crew dead, still in their stations. Ensign Voidstar searched the ships logs, Ensign Yojin studied the cause of death and scans. The ship had minimal power to the bridge and no access to the rest of the ship's systems. I decided to send Lieutenant Mario and a Maco team down to engineering to see if they could repair the computer systems. Since Mario has little experience making repairs I sent Ensign Voidstar once he completed his download of the crew logs. The team was able to connect the engineering computer to the bridge and access auxiliary batteries to return a small amount of power back to the ship. Ensign Yojin was able to obtain more information about the cause of death and how the ship got to its present location. Also when the ship lost computer functions due to and unknown event. The original reason for the ship's disappearance was due to a Romulan attack, however the end of the ship seems to have taken much longer. We will transmit all data to Alliance Command so that a salvage team can be dispatched.
